Most sneakers sold here are cut on a European last and sized up. Feet in this country run wider through the ball and shallower at the instep, so a size that fits the length still pinches. We drew our own last around that.
Why four models
Because four is what two benches can make properly. Every extra model is another set of lasts, another pattern, another thing to get slightly wrong. We would rather make a short catalogue well than a long one adequately.
A run is about 240 pairs a month. When a size goes it is gone until the next one, and we would rather tell you that than carry dead stock.
